As the amount of landfill and ocean waste continues to increase, it is great to hear that companies are attempting to limit their footprint on this planet by findings ways to limit product waste. Grand Eye Care is pleased to inform you that our office is enrolled in the ONE-by-ONE Recycling Program created by Terracycle and Bausch & Lomb. Whether you are a patient of the office or not, you may bring in your opened contact lens packets and deposit them into our ONE-by-ONE Recycling Program collection box. The collection box will be properly recycled to ensure that it does not end up in landfills or our planet’s water resources.
Exercise proper hand washing. When using contact lenses or spectacles, one should wash their hands carefully and thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, followed by hand drying with unused paper towels. This should occur before every contact lens insertion and removal. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. People should avoid touching their face, including their eyes, nose, and mouth, with unwashed hands.
Disinfect contact lenses. Contact lens wearers should either dispose of their daily disposable lenses each evening, or regularly disinfect their monthly and two-week lenses according to instructions from the manufacturer and your eye doctor.
